An infant goat fetuses were found in a canyon near San Bernardino, California.
They were later returned to the mother, who was reportedly pregnant, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
The mother, identified by the Associated Press as Nancy Dickson, is being held in jail on a $100,000 bond, according a sheriff’s statement.
In the early 1990s, the family had a goat born at a local veterinary clinic.
The mother and child were then given birth to a goat calf that later died, according the Associated News.
A search of the family’s home uncovered the fetus, according WCAX.
A veterinarian confirmed the pregnancy, and authorities removed the fetuses, along with their mother, from the animal hospital.
The fetuses had to be euthanized after their mother refused to give birth, the Los Angeles Times reported.
The goats, believed to be about 2-1/2 years old, had been given birth on Wednesday, according AP.
The Associated Press reported that the mother is in stable condition and is being treated for an infection.
