The West African outbreak of the coronavirus is expected to kill more than 20,000 people this year and could surpass the number of deaths in 2013.
The number of confirmed cases, however, has fallen dramatically in the last few weeks and the outbreak appears to have stabilised, according to the World Health Organization.
The WHO also says that there is no indication of a pandemic.
The outbreak is expected in Africa’s vast Central African Republic, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea.
In the past two weeks, authorities in the Central African republic have been able to clear more than 1,000 Ebola patients, including at least 513 with confirmed cases.
Meanwhile, the U.N. says that Liberia has confirmed the deaths of 466 Ebola patients and 816 deaths.
In Sierra Leone, the country is reporting an estimated 935 confirmed cases and 2,400 deaths.
